The Last Movie Meetup: STREETS OF FIRE (8/31)

As some of you already know, I am shortly leaving Austin in October. I am joining the Peace Corps to serve in education in Viet Nam.

The newsletter will continue! In fact, I think the Movie Log will continue, maybe with fewer entries/pictures. I also have quite a few longer-format movie articles that have been in the works for a while. Many have been close to done for a while - like the 3rd entry in "Computers in the 80s & 90s". Once I figured out a workflow for the Movie Log, I was able to apply that to my longer format articles and start making progress in smaller bites.

In the future, I hope to have a lot of entries about my travels as well. That was always meant to be a part of this.

In the meantime, for my Austin friends, one last screening recommendation: a rare chance to see an unmissable cult classic on a brand-new 70mm blowup print. It's Streets of Fire, a movie unlike any other that combines the 1950s with a dystopian future, featuring biker gangs, Willem Dafoe, and a killer rock & roll soundtrack.

It is playing at the Paramount Theatre on 8/31 at 7:00 pm.
